Father Christmas: The Sleigh Ride

SKU:

Dean Morrissey has been drawing and creating characters since his childhood in Boston. Inspired by Disney matte paintings and comic book heroes early on, he grew to appreciate the works of the masters, such as Rembrandt, Vermeer, Pyle and N.C. Wyeth. Morrissey worked a variety of jobs until deciding to paint full time in the late 1970’s. He worked as a freelance book cover illustrator for over 15 different publishers in New York and won numerous awards. Morrissey is self taught, and considers the demands of cover illustration to have been his “art school”. In 1991, Morrissey began to paint some images from a story that he was creating. His books include Ship of Dreams Harry N Abrams (1994), The Great Kettles: A Tale of Time Harry N Abrams (1997), The Song of Celestine Little, Brown and Co. (1998), The Christmas Ship HarperCollins (2000), A Christmas Carol Greenwich Workshop Press (2000), The Moon Robber HarperCollins (2001), The Winter King HarperCollins (2002), and The Monster Trap HarperCollins (2004). His awards include The Society of Illustrators Gold Medal for The Great Kettles, The Chesley Award for The Light Ship (2002), and he is a current nominee for this year’s Chesley Award for Anna of the Celts (2003). Morrissey lives with his wife Shan and his son on the South Shore of Massachusetts.

Hook and Ladder

SKU:

Collin was a very mature two and a half year old who loved anything that made him feel like a big boy.
It did not take him very long to discover our book containing antique fire fighting equipment.
He would be lost in the pictures for hours or at least what felt like hours to a two year old.
That Halloween we dressed him as a firefighter complete with coat, boots and a
bright red helmet. He is still dressed as a firefighter and it is almost Christmas.
When he wears his gear, he refuses to wear a diaper because firefighters are big boys
and they do not wear diapers either. He has also perfected the siren which he shares
with strangers at the mall on a weekly basis.

In the Pink by James Meger

SKU:

James A. Meger taught art from 1973-1979. During this time
he consulted with his mentor, artist Les Kouba. In 1979, he
resigned from teaching. His first limited edition print "Wildside"
was released and quickly sold out. It was also announced in
December of 1979 that he had won the 1980 Minnesota
Duck Stamp print. Today, Meger feels that his previous education,
which included three years of pre-med, as well as hunting
experience, has educated him for the muscular and skeletal
structure needed to paint his realistic depictions of wildlife.
Meger wants to tell a story with each of his paintings. Some
of his paintings have taken up to five months to create. Since
1982, he has included hidden elements in his paintings.
The curious and keen observers seek out the hidden images.
From this, Meger has been known as the artist who paints
 "More than Meets the Eye."

One of Jesse's famous fire paintings
Jesse is a self-taught artist whose professional career has now spanned over four decades. He specializes in Early American Nostalgia, and landscapes with his trademark being lighting effects.

Thanks to the faithful support of his collectors Jesse has become one of the country's most beloved artists. Each image Jesse creates carries a piece of him along with it. As anyone who has ever seen Jesse's work knows, he has one standard he holds higher than all of the rest. “It has to come from the heart, to reach the heart” and Jesse's work does just that.
